BONTOC, Mountain Province – Two barangays in the municipality are the beneficiaries of a total of ₱8 million project from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict’s (NTF-ELCAC).
According to Municipal Government Assistant Department Head, Engr. Renante Kanongkong of the Municipal Engineering Office, the projects include the improvement and construction of the Barangay Access Road and expansion of Level II Mainit Potable Water System in Barangay Mainit and the opening and concreting of Chumayaw-Abyos Farm to Market Road in Barangay Dalican.
Further, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel of the Department of Interior and Local Government – Mountain Province (DILG-MP) said the projects are under the Support to the Barangay Development (SBDP)
fund downloaded to Local Government Units (LGU) as a development package for barangays that have been cleared of the influence of the New People’s Army (NPA).
After the discussion on slippage, material testing, and time suspension led by Local Government Operations Officer II, Engr. Ivy Rose Khayad of the DILG-MP, the statements of commitment were delivered by the contractors, representatives from DILG-MP, Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, 54th Infantry Magilas Battalion, Philippine Army, Bontoc Municipal Police Station, and Dalican Punong Barangay Reynald Waking and Mainit Punong Barangay Johnson Tangchor.
Meanwhile, Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., assured the full support of the Bontoc LGU through the Municipal Engineering Office for the successful implementation of the said projects.
The mayor added that the Bontoc LGU will continue striving towards an insurgency-free municipality for its people to enjoy a safer and more progressive community.
