Personnel of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) successfully apprehended the Cordillera Region’s number 1 and number 4 top most wanted persons in separate operations in Middle Quezon Hill and San Carlos Heights, Irisan, Baguio City, respectively recently.
According to the report submitted to PCol. Ruel D. Tagel, BCPO City Director, the number 1 top most wanted person, arrested by operatives from BCPO police station 10, is a 37-year-old man facing multiple charges. These include six counts of statutory rape and five of qualified rape of a minor. Additionally, he is charged with seven counts of sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness, both in violation of Republic Act (RA) 7610, the special protection of children against abuse, exploitation, and discrimination act.
Meanwhile, the number 4 top most wanted person, a 36-year-old construction worker, was arrested by BCPO police station 9. He is charged with 2 counts of rape in relation to RA 7610, as acts of lasciviousness.
The operation to execute the arrest warrant was carried out with assistance from various units including the City Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, City Intelligence Units, City Investigation and Detective Management Unit, BCPO Police Station 2 and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-5.
The successfully apprehension of the region’s top-most wanted persons serves as a testament that the BCPO is aggressive in its campaign to reduce cases of VAWC and other related crimes, ensuring the safety and security of woman and children within the city.
