Three people are still missing and feared dead, while two survived after being cut off from oxygen in a tunnel they were digging at Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya earlier today. One of the survivors has been rescued, while efforts continue to retrieve the other.
The said mine tunnel is allegedly within the property of FCF Minerals.
The tunnel had reached a depth of 300 meters. A 29-year-old co-worker entered the tunnel around 1 a.m. and found two survivors but no sign of the others. The missing persons, aged 47, 56, and 63, are from Runruno, Quezon, while the survivors are both from Maddela, Quirino, though their exact ages have not been confirmed.
The incident was reported to authorities at 10 a.m. after the Barangay Captain relayed the information, due to the remote location and poor cell signal.
Rescue teams from the PNP, BFP, PDRRMO, and FCF Minerals workers are still working to reach the trapped individuals. As of now, there are no confirmed fatalities due to the said incident.
