BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently commended and congratulated Dr. Stacey Haynie B. Ayson for clinching the second place in the Poetry Written for Children Category during the 2024 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (PMAL).
In a resolution, local legislators stated that Ayson’s remarkable achievement by placing second in what is considered as the country’s highest literacy award brought honor and pride to the city.
The CPMAL is the longest running literary award in the country having been established in 1950 to inspire Filipino writers to improve their literary works.
Further, CPMAL is usually referred to as the Pulitzer Prize of the Philippines. It is the country’s highest literary honor in terms of prestige.
The literary competition began with a long-term vision straddling to complimentary tracks: to provide incentives for Filipino writers to craft the best literary pieces and to be a treasury for the country’s literary gems.
Ayson, an instructor at the University of Baguio’s School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts, received the second place in the Poetry Written for Children Category in the prestigious literary award for her work ‘Where Are the Dinosaurs.’
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to Dr. Ayson and the UB School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
