City officials recently commended and congratulated the University of Baguio (UB) Voices Chorale for winning at the first-ever Taipei International Choral Competition held in Taipei, Taiwan last July 31 to August 2, 2024.
In a resolution authored by Councilor John Rhey Mananeng, local legislators stated that the achievement of the UB Voices Chorale not only showcases the personal excellence of the members but also brought honor and pride to the city being the Education Center of the North.
Earlier, the UB Voices Chorale demonstrated unparalleled talent, dedication and musical excellence, culminating in the attainment of category winner and Gold Award in Ethnic or Traditional Category, Gold Award in Youth Choir category and 4th in Standing in the Grand Prix finalist.
The council claimed that the historic achievement of the UB Voices Chorale marks a monumental milestone in the choir’s journey, symbolizing the culmination of tireless efforts, unwavering commitment and extraordinary musicality.
Further, the success of the UB Voices Chorale under the stewardship of John Glenn Gaerland as conductor and Master of the Choir in the said international competition stands as a shining testament to the transformative power of music in fostering unity, cultural appreciation and artistic expression.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the UB Voices chorale and Gaerland for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
