BAGUIO CITY – The University of Baguio (UB) tandem of Franklin Jan Wayang and Hanna Angway bested junior accountant duos of other schools to win the 2017 PICPA, Baguio-Benguet Quiz Bowl held last September 16, 2017 at the University of the Cordilleras (UC).
Wayang and Angway were consistently staying abreast with the leaders in the easy and average rounds before hitting correct answers in four of the 10 difficult round questions to run away with the win at the strength of their 34 point total for the contest.
The UC team of John Lester Ngas-ab and Nicole Rodil also finished strong in the difficult round to salvage second with 23 points relegating Sanit Louis University’s (SLU) Andrey Mari Absolor and Abegail Angeles to third, who were stuck at 21 points.

King’s College of the Philippines’ (KCP) Resheinald Lopez and Johanne Kate Valdez complete the roster of participants, barely missing a chance to upset their counterparts with 19.
SLU was leading the tally board going into the last round with 16 points but Absolor and Angeles could not crack the difficult round, adding only five points to their total.
That allowed Wayang and Angway, who registered 20 points in the final round to took over the lead. Even Ngas-ab and Rodil, who were dead last after two rounds, came coming back with 15 points to took over at second.
Meanwhile, the dance routine of UC quintuplet that includes Eddy Saderal, Zsanel Estima, Remel Martinez and Iris Joyce Rabadon got the nod of two of the three judges to bag the Pop Dance Competition.
Rebecca Occidental, the president of the chapter, congratulated the participants and thanked the schools for their participation in the event. She advised them to prepare for another round of accounting quiz battles as the National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (NACPAE) is also set to conduct regional and national Quiz Bowls.
