TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The United Bontoc Federation of Kalinga (UBFK) Bulanao chapter holds its third general meeting today at the Bulanao Norte barangay hall.
The meeting was called to discuss the updates on financial collection, presentation of chapter president’s report, and reorganization of the chapter, according to chapter president John Leyaley.
UBKF, an organization of members of the Bontok tribe living in Kalinga and Isabela has six chapters namely Dagupan, Bulanao, Calanan, Bantay, Chico Line and Pinukpuk.
Registered in 2018 at the Securities and Exchange Commission, with 157 member families comprising the Bulanao chapter, the group was formed to provide mortuary benefits, compulsory share for sick and injured members, as well as financial assistance to members in need.
According to Leyaley, to qualify as member of the organization, one has to be a member of the Bontok tribe either by lineage, birth, residence, or a “feeling of belongingness.”
The theme for the meeting was “Lagsak ya finnachang ipalikna, urnos ya talna ipapigsa.”
