City officials recently commended and congratulated the University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Law for being conferred the first-ever Educating for Justice Award by the Legal Education Board for having achieved an outstanding performance by ranking 10th among top contributing law schools in the country for the years 20111-2020.
In a resolution authored by Councilors Betty Lourdes F. Tabanda and Leandro B. Yangot, Jr., local legislators stated that the local government joins the UC College of Law in the celebration of another milestone and congratulates the higher education institution for the monumental achievement.
Earlier, the Legal Education Board conducted its first-ever Education for Justice Award for top contributing law schools in the country.
Further, the Board is mandated by the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 7662 to uplift the standards of legal education in order to prepare law students for advocacy, counselling, problem-solving and decision-making, to infuse in them the ethics of the legal profession.
The aforesaid award aims to give recognition to the top 10 law schools for having fulfilled their mandate in contributing legal professionals to serve the country based on the comparative share of institutions in the population of new members of the legal profession for the years 2011-2020.
For the said period, UC College of Law produced 631 lawyers, ranking 10th among top contributing law schools in the country.
The award was conferred to UC and other awardees by Legal Education Board Commissioners Hon. Salex L. Alibogha and Hon. Lorenzo R. Reyes with chief operating officer Rodrigo R. Sagum on September 5, 2023 at the University theater.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the UC administration for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
