The public service show ‘Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda’ (CIA with BA) on GMA 7 has ended its first season after 14 episodes, but the results of the on-air legal consultations call for a season two.

In the show’s 14th and final episode, the audiences saw an update on the lives of the individuals who brought their cases for televised legal advice and resolution before sibling-senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano, who co-host the show with ‘King of Talk’ Boy Abunda.

One of them was a woman from the February 12 episode who had been fighting for the right of her children to receive support from their biological father, who had turned out to be a married man.

With full guidance from the lawyer assigned to her by the Cayetanos, she was finally able to file a lawsuit against the biological father who not only failed to provide for their children but also failed to protect the children from his legal wife who had once physically assaulted them.

“After ko pong makausap si Ate Pia at Kuya Alan at Tito Boy, gumaan po y’ung pakiramdam ko at marami akong nalaman na karapatan para sa mga anak ko. At y’un po ang pinanghahawakan ko ngayon sa pag-file ng kaso,” she said.

Meanwhile, a defendant from the Case 2 Face segment of the episode on April 16 who was troubled with overdue debt was able to start a small business of her own using the capital provided to her by the show.

“Kung hindi dahil sa tulong niyo sa akin katulad po sa pagtitinda ko hindi ako makakaraos sa buhay ko,” she said, addressing the Cayetano siblings.

She also thanked the two senators for helping her pay for surgery for her cataract.

“Kung hindi po dahil sa inyo, hindi po maooperahan ang mata ko. Kayo ang binigay sa akin ng Panginoon,” she said.

Meanwhile, the arguing parties from the April 2 episode’s Case 2 Face segment have already turned a new page in life.

This after the couple who was brought by their landlady to CIA with BA for failing to pay off their overdue electric bill worth more than P10,000 successfully paid their obligations according to the set terms.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami kay Kuya Alan at Ate Pia dahil nakalipat na po kami sa bagong bahay at may bagong negosyo na po. Salamat po!” the couple said.

The show’s Payong Kapatid segments in all of the 14 episodes also turned out well behind the camera, among them two women who have been empowered to be economically independent.

One woman who suffered domestic abuse for almost two decades underwent counseling and skills training so she can finally leave the abusive relationship, as advised by Senator Pia.

“Thank you po Ate Pia and Kuya Alan Cayetano said binigay niyo pong trabaho sakin. Salamat at nagkaroon ako ng ganitong oportunidad,” she said.

Another woman, who was torn between letting her husband lend her sister-in-law what little they have left for the latter’s dialysis and demanding that he allot his earnings for their own family’s needs, was given capital for a small sari-sari store so she can augment her husband’s income.

CIA with BA is a continuation of the work started by Sen. Alan and Pia’s father, the late Senator Rene Cayetano, with his radio and television program ‘Compañero Y Compañera’ where he also gave on-air legal advice and commentary.

According to Senator Alan, their intent with CIA with BA is to be an avenue for settling legal issues without being “confined in legal concepts.”

“[CIA with BA] is a creative way of looking at legal issues [where we] give advice without confining it sa pagiging bookish. Kasi katulad nga ng sinabi sa Bible, the law was made for man, not man made for the law,” he said in a Facebook livestream on March 27, 2023.

Updates about the show can be found at the @cayetanoinactionwithboyabunda account on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Youtube.
