BAGUIO CITY – The local government and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) recently reminded the accredited volunteers who belong to the limited civic organizations that will be assisting in the Summer Vacation in Baguio to be courteous and respectful when dealing with the public.
The accredited volunteer groups were also told to ensure that their members should wear their prescribed uniforms and identification cards while on duty in their respective areas of responsibility assigned by the BCPO.
Further, the volunteers should observe early posting at their designated areas from 6 am to 6 pm for them to be able to provide timely assistance to the public.
Under the existing guidelines of the local government and the BCPO, the volunteers are supposed to assist visitors by providing needed information such as directions, emergency assistance and others; assist in traffic direction and control; assist injured persons while waiting for emergency responders coming from various civic organizations and assist in the maintenance of order and crowd control.
The volunteers shall provide their own logistical requirements when manning their respective areas of responsibility in the city.
The local government and BCPO also directed the volunteers to be knowledgeable on the different city ordinances such as anti-smoking, anti-littering, anti-destructed walking among others for them to be able to effectively and efficiently guide the public on the prevailing limitations in the city.
Respected team leaders of the volunteers should notify proper authorities in cases of any untoward incidents that may transpire within their areas of responsibility for appropriate action.
Moreover, all incidents related to the activities shall be immediately reported to any BCPO personnel or to the command center for immediate action and for the volunteers to respond only to queries related to volunteer concerns.
For this year’s Summer Vacation in Baguio activities, more than 500 volunteers belonging to around seven volunteer groups will be tapped by the local government and BCPO to assist in the maintenance of law and order during the Holy week and other SumVac activities that stand up to the end of May.
