ITOGON, Benguet – Mayor Bernard S. Waclin assured there will be a balance of development and efforts to preserve and protect the town’s environment during his second consecutive term as the municipal chief executive of the municipality.
Waclin will be banking on his established rapport with both the government and the private sector to lobby for the inclusion of the town’s high impact development projects in their respective programs that will contribute in advancing the desired robust growth and development of the first-class municipality.
He claimed there are numerous big ticket projects of the municipality in the pipeline but details of these will be released once they will become part of the priority initiatives of both the private and government sectors, especially the private companies that intend to closely work with the municipal government to complete its holistic approach to development.
Mayor Waclin was instrumental in putting to reality the establishment and eventual operation of the 12-bed Itogon dialysis treatment center following the firm commitments of the private sector to augment the government’s limited resources for the realization of the desired key projects beneficial for the greater majority of the populace.
However, he stipulated that the health-related facility is not only exclusively for the people of Itogon but it will also provide the dialysis treatment needs of people from other places who want to avail of its free services.
According to him, the municipal government will be making the appropriate announcements on its high impact development projects to be implemented in the different parts of the municipality once these will be given the green light by the partners of the municipality, especially the private sector that is very active in providing various support for the realization of its aspirations for robust growth and development.
Itogon is one of the five first class towns and one of the three local governments that heavily rely on mining as its source of income through its share from the national wealth tax being paid by companies developing exploiting natural resources within its jurisdiction.
Mayor Waclin envisions the municipality to have a diverse source of resources in the future to ensure that there will be balance in the implementation of appropriate and feasible development projects while complimenting the same with the necessary preservation and protection of the environment.
“We want to pass on to the future generations a good state of our environment coupled with programs, projects and activities that generate jobs for our people and spur their economic activities and sources of livelihood to prevent the rapid deterioration of our environment and ensure that the future generations will reap its benefits,” Waclin stressed.
He expressed his sincerest gratitude to the people of Itogon for bestowing to him their trust and confidence to serve his second consecutive term as their local chief executive and that he will reciprocate such trust with sincere, dedicated and passionate service which he had been constantly doing in the past through the various positions that he had been occupying.
