BAGUIO CITY – A formal agreement was recently signed at the West Veranda of Baguio Country Club between Nurture Wellness Village Inc. and Baguio Country Club, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at developing a comprehensive wellness center within the club’s premises.
The contract signing took place on June 9, 2025. The agreement was signed by Mrs. Catherine B. Turvill, President of Nurture Wellness Village Inc., and Mr. Danny Gacuya, Operations Director of Baguio Country Club. Present as official witnesses were Ms. Shirley Quejada, Business Development Manager of Nurture Wellness; Dr. Mike Turvill, Co-owner of Nurture Wellness; and Ms. Roanne Galicia, Sear Director of Baguio Country Club.
“Baguio Country Club is renowned as the only five-star mountain resort in the country, and they are committed to continuously upgrading their services. We are partnering with them to offer not just a spa, but a true wellness center that highlights a strong Filipino brand of wellness. Through this partnership, we aim to introduce specialized Filipino treatments, particularly those rooted in Cordilleran traditions,” said Mrs. Turvill. “Nurture has been in the wellness industry for 24 years, bringing a wealth of experience to this collaboration. Our therapists are extensively trained. As a background, Nurture was among the first in the country to receive assistance from an international spa consultant from Thailand, who helped develop our spa treatments and trained our therapists. We have consistently followed these protocols, ensuring that the quality of our services remains excellent,” she added.
Mrs. Turvill emphasized that the treatments to be offered at the club will reflect both Filipino and Cordilleran healing traditions. Among these are Dagdagay, a traditional Cordillera foot spa using bamboo sticks for reflexology and body strengthening, and Nilaib, a banana leaf herbal treatment using heated pouches filled with medicinal plants such as sambong and bayabas. In addition, the center will feature specialized therapies for golfers, targeting areas like the hips, shoulders, and knees—common pain points among the sport’s enthusiasts. A full range of therapeutic oils will also be introduced, including Nilay-Amu’in for relaxation, Sigla with lemongrass from Bacolod for energy, Alaga for warming and athletic recovery, and Gayuma for couples and wedding preparations.
Ms. Shirley Quejada stated that under the partnership, Nurture will oversee wellness services, while ProFit will manage physical fitness and sports programming. “ProFit’s team of sports scientists will conduct assessments and design science-based programs tailored to each member’s sport, with a focus on golf,” she explained. The collaboration will offer a holistic health approach, featuring programs for individuals with specific health conditions such as diabetes or arthritis, as well as group classes, personal training, and evidence-based fitness solutions.
Baguio Country Club General Manager Mr. Anthony De Leon expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. “We’re very happy and very proud to partner with Nurture and Baguio Country Club because our objective every single time in the operations of this club is for the upgrading of our services and facilities and one of which is to have a reputable service in terms of wellness and this is something that everybody looks forward to when they come up to Baguio. And what we’re proud of is that they’re of course well known and even accredited by the Department of Tourism. So these are major advantages of partnering with Nurture. We even went as far as putting up a new building for our spa services and that also includes physical treatment and rehab center which is of course separate and distinct from the services of Nurture. But this is an overall project of the club focusing on wellness and medical tourism.”
The wellness center is expected to open to the public by July 2025 and is envisioned to support the advancement of holistic health, rehabilitation, and medical tourism in Baguio City. By Annjay Domilies
