LUBA, Abra – A 58-year old widower died after he was shot by his own son during a heated altercation in their residence at Luzong, here, recently.
Superintendent Mark Pespes, officer-in-charge of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Nestor Samuel Cruzada a.k.a. Lito, 58, widower, farmer while he named the suspect as his own son, Jerry Pisquil Cruzada a.k.a. Paeng, 35, married, unemployed and both resident of barangay Luzong, Luba, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect, together with their two still unidentified companions, were having a drinking session within their residence when a misunderstanding suddenly erupted between them.
The victim reportedly drew his alleged caliber .38 revolver and attempted to shoot the suspect but the latter was able to grabe the firearm and shot his father once on his head.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital but he was deaclared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the suspect was arrested by combined police operatives during a followup operation.
The suspect is now detained at the Luba Municipal Station awaiting the filing of parricide charges against him before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
