BAGUIO CITY July 12 – A 22-year old woman died after she allegedly committed suicide by drinking a still undisclosed toxic substance inside an inn along Kagitingan Street, here, Tuesday night.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the alleged suicide victim as Ysabel Marcelo Mapanao, 22, married, self-employed, and residing at Guinaoang, Dalicno, Itogon, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim allegedly texted her father asking forgiveness for reportedly committing a sin.
Her husband tried to locate her whereabouts and after several hours, he was able to locate her inside the said room and confronted her about her alleged plans of working abroad without his knowledge that escalated to a heated altercation.
Her husband informed probers that he was able to smell a toxic substance emanating from her mouth that prompted him to seek assistance from his colleagues who immediately reported the matter to the police and emergency responders.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for treatment but he expired several hours later due to alleged acute respiratory failure due to unknown clinical ingestion.
