BAGUIO CITY – A 65-year old woman died after she was allegedly stabbed 27 times by a 30-year old jobless man who happens to be her godson at No. 2 Old Forestry Compound, Engineers’ Hill here Sunday night.
Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Ana Benecia Fernandez Reyes, 65, single, a retired secretary and a resident of Old Forestry Compound, Engineers’ Hill, Baguio City while he named the arrested suspect as Jeffry Argamino Notarte, 30, single, jobless and a resident of No. 8 Engineers’ Hill, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim allegedly reminded her godson to stop smoking and to improve his life but the suspect was reportedly irked by such consistent reminders prompting him to break into her house and stabbed her several times on the different parts of her body.
Concerned neighbors who witnessed the incident immediately reported the matter to the police and also rushed the victim to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to the gravity of the stab wounds she sustained.
The suspect was arrested by responding police operatives after neighbors were able to locate him hiding in one of the houses near the crime scene.
He is now detained at the Baguio City Jail awaiting the filing of murder charges against him before the city prosecutor’s office.
