SALLAPADAN, Abra – A 42-year old woman died after she was allegedly struck by lightning while trying to heat water in a keetle in their residence at Subusob, here, Thursday.
Superintendent Mark Pespes, officer-in-charge of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Maylene Blanza Walberto, 42, married, farmer, and a resident of barangay Subusob, Sallapadan, Abra.
Based on the information relayed by his father to the police operatives, the victim was about to heat water in a kettle during a heavy downpour when lightning struck her that inflicted serious burnt injuries on the different parts of her body.
She was rushed to a local hospital where health workers tried to revive her but they failed to do so.
The remains of the victim was immediately brought by her relatives to their residence for her to be given a descent wake and burial.
