LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap assured concerned stakeholders of the Ambiong National High School that he will strive to source out the required P25 million to construct the needed building the public secondary institution.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House committee on appropriations, witnessed the bizarre situation in the said school where the students are using the school buildings and facilities of the Ambiong Elementary School for their studies because of the absence of their own school building.
He claimed that it is ironic that only the sticker with the Ambiong National High School attached to one of the school buildings that differentiates the elementary school from the high school, thus, the need provide the funds a high school building.
The lawmaker disclosed that since the annual budget of the national government had already been signed into law and for execution by the concerned government agencies, he will try to look for private sources of funds to construct the Ambiong National High School building this year so that teachers and students can hold their classes, especially when face-to-face classes will resume.
According to him, the proposed high school building will be a 2-story 8-classroom structure so that they will not be dislodging the elementary of Ambiong Elementary School.
Congressman Yap underscored that teachers and students must be provided with decent classrooms to enhance their learning experience instead of crowding in limited spaces just to be able to pursue their studies.
He claimed that lawmakers are given the opportunity by the education department to identify one priority school building to be funded from the annual budget of the department and he used this privilege this year, thus, the only way by which he can help the Ambiong National High School is for him to tap private sources of funds including his personal funds for the project.
Congressman Yap claims he wants the youth to have easier access to education as the best inheritance from their parents and guardians as this cannot be easily taken away from them and that they could use their education for productive activities in their lives.
