FLORA, Apayao – Al Christian Agngarayngay, born and raised in Barangay Atok, Flora, Apayao, has brought honor to his province and hometown by graduating from the University of the Philippines as a Magna Cum Laude in Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies in 2022.
In his interview with The Summit Express, Agngarayngay recalled his journey of attending three universities. The first of which was the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, where he took a pre-medical degree in order to assist his grandfather who was suffering from asthma at the time.
Due to health issues, he was forced to leave UST and attend another school in Novaliches. Then he relocated to Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation Fairview, which was closer to their home in Novaliches.
He pursued his pre-med study in the University of the Philippines (UP)- Diliman, also known as Iskolar ng Bayan, but was not able to finish. He then applied for a scholarship in another program and was fortunate to be accepted. Finally, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies from the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) and was awarded Magna Cum Laude in 2022.
He also shared his struggles as a child and the hardships he had while pursuing his degree. Despite his difficulties in life, he has achieved everything he has now.
Agngarayngay currently works full-time at SGV & Co. as a Talent Attraction and Acquisition Associate (Talent Team/HR Department). SGV is currently the Philippines’ largest multifunctional professional services firm, with nine branches nationwide. By Michelle Acantilado
