BAGUIO CITY – DECEMBER 1, 2015 marked the 74th Founding Anniversary of the YMCA of the City of Baguio, Inc. that opened with a parade that coincided with the opening of “Christmas in Baguio 2015” children’s’ mardigras parade and the SLU Lantern parade, highlighted by the lighting of the City Christmas Tree atop Session Road here.
Seventy four years today since its founding in December 1, 1941 simple celebrations to commemorate its founding was conducted starting with an ecumenical service and thanks giving mass in the morning and the selection of the YMCA Pre-School Little MR & Miss YMCA 2015.
Culminating the activity was a fellowship and awards night graced by the YMCA Baguio, Inc. President Engr. Rex Ludaes who in his message emphasized and reiterated credence on the illustrious men and women of Baguio City who in one way or the other helped in developing the YMCA of Baguio City in what it is today.
Also pointing out the present developments carried out in the YMCA, He ensured the continuity of innovative programs for the youth and community for the years to come. Thanking the YMCA members, awards were also given to YMCA members who with their generous contributions have helped in the continuous work for the YMCA vision and mission.
The 2015 YMCA Volunteer Awardees; Jason Kitong, Albert Mon Dawa, Luis Sismundo, Mia Palayen and Jezreel Ulban, for the school advisers Sports Awardeed; Errol Byron Sansano (BCNHS-Main), Ferdinand Fangonillo (MISBCI), Salvador Dalang (SLU-LHS), Joel C. Luis (SLSC).
For the school advisers Academic Awardees; Capt. Ross Mar P. Villareal (PMA), Ms. Gladys Sibayan (UCGSHS), Ms. Emelita Sao-an (UCGSHS), Ms. Josephine Ann Watchorna (PCNHS), Mr. Walter Bimuyag (Easter College), Ms. Lovella Espiritu (BERKELEY), Mary Jane Wayang Ed.D ( UBLES). Institutional Awardees for this year are the following; Philippine Military Academy, Berkeley School, Philippine Science High School, Easter College Elementary School, Easter College, University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School, UCCP Baguio Educational Center, UCCP La Trinidad, Inc., Salud Mitra Barangay, and Pines City National High School.
Also given Awards are new Life Corporate Members, the highest membership level a Y’er can achieve with his contributory membership making him/her a perpetual member of the YMCA of which his volunteerism as life corporate member makes him a perpetual sponsor of all programs of the YMCA for youth and community development.
