LA TRINIDAD-BENGUET, the YMCA of the City of Baguio, inc. conducted its annual summer youth camp at the Benguet State University Training Center situated at sitio Bektey in Long Long Trinidad last April 30 to May 3, 2015 with one hundred twenty five elementary and high school students in participation.
Among the 125 participants were delegates from Cagayan Valley YMCA, Palew Tublay, Itogon, and La Trinidad Benguet, who gathered for the three day camp purposely to be trained and to experience independent living away from their homes.
The YMCA Summer Camp is a widely anticipated annual activity that children look forward too; it is simply fun but serious enough to train children in mind, body, and spirit. Spearheaded by YMCA Baguio President Engr, Rex L. Ludaes, the participants indulge themselves in leadership trainings through various team building activities, values orientation, fellowship activities; lectures on biodiversity coupled with eco walk activities conducted by John Molitas a BSU-Training center staff.
Other activities were basic first aid training conducted by the Red Cross-Baguio Chapter and sports trainings, in basketball, as well as the introduction of a newly developed therapeutic sport by the YMCA of Nagoya in Japan called “TASPONY”, and football that was conducted by the Benguet State University college football varsity team.
Meanwhile, to continually give the youth a chance to enjoy their summer vacation the second batch of the YMCA Summer Frolics sports development and training program for children 6 – 16 years of age in various sports activities and the YMCA Pre School Reading Readiness for preschoolers 4 – 6 years of age are welcome to enrol, classes starts on June 1 – 30, 2015.
