Young agri-prenuers (Yaggies) from the Cordillera successfully pitched their business model canvasses (BMCs) during the second and final phase of the Young Farmers’ Challenge (YFC) national-level competition recently.
The first two who presented on the first day, November 24, were Cris Reshon Guiral from Kalinga (Solar-Powered Urban Fishery–High-Density Production Module), and the group of Lovely Joy Paddapad and Josephine Guimangal from Ifugao (Am-Iyoung’s Yuyu Farm). This was succeeded by Jomarie Mangeg from Benguet (Frugies de Locale) and Ray Mark Manawas from the Mountain Province (Highland Rabbit Feeds Production) on the second day, November 25.
The four enterprises were among the 35 national finalists who made it through the first phase of the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) national-level competition on November 7 to 9, 2022.
The results of the second phase will be announced on December 15, 2022 in Ilocos Norte, where only 12 among the 35 national finalists will be named the Outstanding Youth Agri-Business Model and will receive an additional financial grant of P300,000 per enterprise.
YFC aims to encourage and support the Yaggies to stay or return to agriculture and engage them in food production, processing agricultural products, and other farm-based enterprises. It also aims to allow the youth to own, lease, develop and cultivate lands for agricultural purposes.
