La Trinidad, Benguet – The Young Guns and Timpuyog secured twice to beat by virtue of their respective victories while Abatan caught the last bus to the quarterfinals as a consequence of another team’s a loss as the elimination round of the La Liga Buguias came to a close last Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the San Jose Gym, here.
The Young Guns routed Doms, 96-73, to secure second place at the end of the elimination round. They wound up their elimination assignment with a 9-2 win-loss record, tied for first with Mark N’ Kins, but will have to settle for second place due to their 79-72 loss to the Kins last September 25.
The Young Guns win also means Doms will drop to sixth place with their 7-4 record and the three teams tied at 8-3 will have to be broken by the quotient system amongst themselves, where the Giants took third, Timpuyog fourth, and Highlander fifth.
On the other hand, Timpuyog hacked out an 85-79 hard-earned win over the Hotspring to propel themselves to 8-3, and consequently, obtained fourth place in the tie-breaker. That final placement gave them twice to beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
