BAGUIO CITY – The Young Jaguars of the University of the Cordilleras Grade School High School (UCGSHS) outlasted the Baguio City National High School, 89-85, and bagged the High School Varsity Division Championship of the Fifth Season of the YMCA-Inter School Basketball Tournament. Their pulsating three point victory at the YMCA Gymasium was a repeat for the second consecutive year. Berkeley High School went on a tear in the fourth canto to hack out a two-point decision over Our Lady of Mount Carmel Montessori High School varsity, 86-84, to take home the bronze.
In the Elementary Varsity Division Berkeley rolled over Mabini Elementary School Varsity, 57-43, to take the crown. The UCGSHS Elementary Jaguars bested Lucban Elementary School Varsity with a fourth quarter run, 55-42, to finish third.
Berkeley’s Ethan Rodelas of the Elementary Varsity Division and UCGSHS’ Robert Castro of the High School Varsity Division are leading individual statistics for the best player of the league award. Castro is gunning for the award for the second consecutive year.
