LUNA, Apayao – Taer & Dayag ti Apayao 2024 titleholders, Mr. John Patrick Peña and Ms. Lei Gertrude Avryll Ravelo, spearheaded Project DAYAG LEI (Dynamic Advocacy for Youth Advancement, Growth, Leadership, and Empowerment through Innovative EKB Approaches) on June 2, 2024, in Barangay Dibagat, Kabugao, Apayao.
Joining them were Kabugao’s Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President (SKFP) and current Ms. Cordillera 2023 Autonomy Youth Ambassador, Hon. Jazreal Jamila C. Enciso, along with Architect Arldave D. Portacio and Kathlyn Joy Dicray, both second runner-ups of Taer & Dayag ti Apayao 2024, SK Chairman of Brgy. Dibagat Hon. Kevin Balalang, and SK Chairman of Brgy. Tuyangan Hon. Sheila Saweran.
Ravelo provided an overview of her project, highlighting that with adequate education and support from the government and its leaders, every yApayao, regardless of age, can achieve their dreams. Peña on the other hand, highlighted the importance of education as a key to a better future.
Dicray linked her campaign to environmental preservation by leading a tree-planting activity and reminding participants to take care of their health. Portacio, Kabugao’s first-ever architect, supported Mr. Peña’s emphasis on education.
This initiative was made possible with the support of the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kabugao and through grants and donations from Board Member Kyle Mariah Chelsea Bulut-Cunan.
School supplies, monoblock chairs, and tables were donated to Dibagat Elementary School and Apadi Elementary School for educational purposes. By Krizza Joy Castillo
