Personnel from the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) – Cordillera led by Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Dr. Arlene M. Sagayo and Regulatory Division OIC-Chief Dr. Lesiley C. Deligen spearheaded the turnover of the 10,000,000.00 worth swine facility under the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) project in barangay Abatan, Hapao, Hungduan, Ifugao on June 5, 2024.
The DA-INSPIRE project under the Livestock Program is a support to the swine industry given the African Swine Fever (ASF) problems that struck the country in 2019. Said project is inclusive of
biosecure swine facility inclusive of a climate-controlled animal house, waste management, farm equipment, shower room, office including initial stocks with feeds and biologics.
“Today is a memorable for all of us here because it marks the day that DA is now transferring the responsibility to Hapao Indigenous People’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative to manage and operate this INSPIRE project”, Dr. Sagayo said during the turnover ceremony. “We can see the support coming from the Provincial, Municipal and Local Government units so we hope for the continuous partnerships among us to see this project materialize”, she added.
In response Engineer Raul Biniahan a member of the Board of Directors of the FCA expressed their gratitude for the project and the suggestions towards the improvement of the facility while giving assurance for the success of the project. “On behalf of my co-members in the Hapao Indigenous People’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative we believe that we can make this successful because we have the financial capability to operate and manage this project”, he said.
“Together we are Happy Acknowledging and Narrating your Kind Support (THANKS)”, Former Vice-governor Robert Mangyaw also said in appreciation to the Department of Agriculture during the turnover.
Other key officials who joined and supported the turnover ceremony were personnel from the PLGU led Honorable Agustin C. Calya-en, Dr. Roland Pila from the PVO, Mr. Charlemagne Monayao from APCO, Mr. Domingo Mariano from Ifugao Provincial Agriculture Office, MLGU staff led by Ms. Luzviminda Dumulog Aliguyon including the uniformed personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine National Police.
