LUNA, Apayao – The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Apayao achieved a noteworthy feat by securing the third runner-up position in the overall standings of the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2024 held in Baguio City on May 1-3, 2024.
This is an improvement from last year’s fourth runner-up finish.
The Baguio City Division emerged as the champion with a total of 147 points, followed closely by Benguet with 135 points, Abra with 108 points, and Apayao with 104 points. Tabuk City, Mt. Province, Ifugao, and Kalinga also participated in the competition bagging 88, 76, 41, and 31 points respectively.
Under the theme “Galing, Talino, at Husay ng mga Batang Makabansa sa Diwa ng Matatag na Adhika,” this year’s event highlighted the exceptional skills, talents, and academic excellence of young learners.
A total of 240 young journalists from the Apayao SDO participated in the conference, showcasing the province’s rich talent and potential.
The first-place winners from this event will represent the region at the National Schools Press Conference scheduled to take place in Cebu City during the last week of May.
Chief Education Supervisor of Apayao SDO Joy D. Saleng expressed gratitude for the dedication and support of everyone involved in making the event successful.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the inspiring leaders, TWGs, coaches, volunteer parents, and especially our enthusiastic participants whose contributions were invaluable. We also acknowledge the support of PLGU, MLGUs, SWAD, and other sources whose financial assistance made our participation possible. Your commitment to academic growth and community unity has been exemplary,” Saleng stated in a Facebook post.
Ruby A. Palacay of Luna National High School played a crucial role as the lone member of the Regional Technical Working Group of RSPC in the province, also serving as a proctor for the Pagkuha ng Larawan in the elementary category.
Ma. Teresa M. Bermudez of Marag Valley Agricultural and Trade High School) and Michael B. Bernardo of Apayao Science High School likewise served as proctors in Editorial Writing Elementary and Pag-uulo at Pagwawasto ng Balita in Secondary categories, respectively. By Ruby Palacay
