TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) encouraged various sectors, such as child development workers, youth, solo parents, and members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) and Empowerment and Reiteration of Parent Abilities (ERPAT), to improve documentation of their best practices and activities.
City Social Welfare Officer Melody Dulawen emphasized the importance of good practice documentation during an orientation on June 13 at the Golden Berries Hotel and Convention Center, as it allows for the preservation and presentation of important facts and details about the sector’s events in an organized format.
The good practice documentation of programs and services of the city government could be replicated by other local government units, as they have been shown to deliver excellent results relevant to social welfare programs and services., she added.
Dulawen stated that sectors must complete the relevant documentation since they would be delivered to the DSWD Regional Office for assessment, resource augmentation, and future recognition.
In a message, Judith Sangdaan, Social Welfare Officer of the CSWDO, asserts that every sector maintains good practices; however, these practices, which are innovative, responsible, and replicable, are not well-documented because they (members) lack the skill to do so; thus, the activity was designed to provide them with the necessary skills for effective documentation.
Johnny Bumakil, unit head of TARA discussed the salient provisions of Memorandum Circular No.18, series of 2023 or the revised guidelines on the ‘Pagkilala sa natatanging kontribusyon sa bayan’ awards on the provision of rewards and incentives to local government units through the local social welfare and development offices (LSWDO) on social welfare and development (SWD) local implementation.
The awards that recognize the exemplary contributions of LSWDOs as frontline service providers in the implementation of SWD programs and services, include the Gawad Serbisyong Mapagkalinga and Gawad Serbisyong Mahusay- both national and regional levels, and the Gawad Serbisyong Masigasig and Gawad Serbisyong Matapat- regional level.
