BAGUIO CITY – Members of the local legislative body formally welcomed newly appointed Councilor Francisco Roberto Pacoy A. Ortega VI as the council’s newest member during their regular session last Monday.
The younger Ortega, who will be serving the unexpired term of his late father former Councilor Roberto Bobby Ortega who succumbed to a lingering illness last July 30, 2017, took his oath before Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan during the regular Monday flag-raising ceremonies before formally assuming his new position.
He was installed as the Chairman of the Committee on Peace and Order and Public Protection and member of the Committees on Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Employment, Livelihood and Cooperatives, Ethics, Governmental Affairs and Personnel and Barangay Cases Division 3.
Further, he will also be sitting as a member of the city Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and a member of the Peoples Law Enforcement Board (PLEB).
However, the younger Ortega manifested that he is waiving his membership to the PLEB in favour of veteran local legislators who are familiar with the law so that there will be no legal questions in the decisions that will be handed down by the special body.
Mayor Domogan urged the newly-installed city official to perform his duties and responsibilities with utmost dedication and sincerity for the greater interest of the people of the city.
He challenged the neophyte local legislator to fulfil his promise during the wake of his late father that he will try to perform at par or even beyond the accomplishments of his father in service to the people of Baguio.
Ortega finished his Bachelor of Science in Criminology at the St. John Bosco College in San Fernando City, La Union.
He reportedly possesses good leadership and management skills while being a dedicated and hardworking individual who is willing to take tasks and responsibilities with the ability to learn and grasp new things and a good inter-personal skill.
Further, Ortega is said to have the ability to adjust and cope with diversed and changing work conditions and situations. He is a motor sports and racing enthusiast and knows how to effectively manage his time.
Ortega is the president of the Junior Chamber International–San Fernando ‘Saluyot’ chapter and founder of the Team La Union Auto Group.
He is the current advisers of the Barkada Kontra Droga, Baguio United Non-Government Organization (BUNGO), Motorcycle Club of La Union, La Union Vibrant Riders and La Union Pick-up Enthusiasts Team PH.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the appointment of the younger Ortega on December 29, 2017 to replace his late father pursuant to existing laws, rules and regulations in the implementation of the successors of officials who die while serving their terms of office.
