The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) said that 24.8 percent or around one-fourth of its present force are females which is in compliance to existing laws, rules and regulations.
BCPO City Director Police Col. Francisco Bulwayan, Jr. said that of the total 1,388 distributed in the various stations and offices, 339 are females which is equivalent to close to one-fourth of the city’s police force.
Further, he added that 10 to 20 percent of the law enforcers being hired by the Philippine National Police (PNP) when there is recruitment is earmarked for females.
On the other hand, the BCPO official claimed that aside from the ongoing preparations for the twin highlights of the Panagbenga over the weekend, preparations are also underway for the various activities that will be lined up for this year’s celebration of women’s month next month.
According to him, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has institutional activities for the women’s month celebration that will be cascaded to the different regional, provincial, city and municipal police offices around the country in time for the needed preparations that will be undertaken for the said purpose considering that the events will be done next month.
He pointed out that the BCPO has always been a partner of concerned government agencies, the local government and the private sector in the roll out of various activities related to the celebration of women’s month through the years that is why the local police force is always ready to extend whatever assistance for the successful conduct of the lined up events.
He encouraged the active participation of concerned sectors to the various activities that are lined up by the PNP, concerned government agencies, the local government and the private sector during the celebration of women’s month considering the important role that women play in the society.
