BAGUIO CITY – Piraso started the match with confidence to win in Last Sundays’ match-up against Red in a close game fostering a home court advantage over the opponent. That swag brought them a first canto 15-11 lead at the end of the quarter.
Concurrent with the game plan of Piraso was to control the game pace which they did by ditching field goals that took their confidence of winning in a high note. This enabled them to have a quick run, posting a 38-28 score at the end of the first half of play.
Piraso held on their lead early in the third canto, however, Red concentrated on their defense to come back by patiently chipping off the lead. They countered with a 20-14 third canto blast to cut the lead to just eight point, 48-56 at the end of the third.
Fourth quarter action saw a close match between the protagonists. Red intensified their defense as well as ditching baskets to get them on the go which again materialised as they managed to equalize the score in the dying seconds of the fourth canto 68-all, with a foul to boot on the loose ball giving them a chance to lead
They missed the freethrow, however, and Piraso manage to equalize the score on the ensuing play, 70-all.
With the ball possession and a few ticks to go, Red managed to bait a foul that send them to the 15-foot line with no time left.
Red missed the first shot leaving a chance of a possible extension play but converted the second shot to win the game as the final quarter buzzer sounded.
