BAGUIO CITY – The Association of Social Welfare and Development Officers, Inc. conferred to Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan its coveted Hall of Fame award as Outstanding City Mayor for highly urbanized cities in the delivery of social welfare and development programs in the city.
The award was received by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Betty F. Fangasan on behalf of Mayor Domogan during the annual National Social Welfare Workers Convention in Cebu city last April 24, 2019.
Mayor Domogan had been adjudged by the prestigious organization of social welfare and development officers as Outstanding City Mayor for highly urbanized cities in the delivery of social welfare and development programs in the city for three consecutive years prior to being conferred the Hall of Fame award.
The association stated that the local chief executive’s leadership caused the implementation of numerous local interventions that have resulted to the cascading to the ground of the different social welfare and development programs that lifts the status of the marginalized sectors in the different barangays of the city through the years.
For him, Domogan said that the award is in recognition of the individual and collective efforts of the officials and employees of the local government in making sure that appropriate social welfare and development services are readily available for the residents of the city, especially those belonging to the vulnerable sectors, who are the ones really in need of assistance from concerned government agencies and the city for them to hurdle the difficulties of life they are currently encountering.
According to him, the Hall of Fame award is not only for him but for the local government as a whole considering that it was the individual and collective efforts of the officials and employees that made the social welfare and development programs of the local government work for the people, particularly those who are in need of assistance.
He urged the concerned offices of the local government to continue introducing appropriate innovations in the existing social welfare and development programs and projects being currently undertaken so that more people from the marginalized sectors in the city are able to avail of the services to help them improve their status in life and become productive citizens of the city.
Aside from catering to the needs of the members of the city’s marginalized sector, the City Social Welfare and Development Office also extends assistance to the national government in the determination of the beneficiaries of the various anti-poverty programs and projects beneficial in improving the lives of people who belong to the vulnerable sectors of the city.
Domogan expressed optimism that whoever will takeover the leadership of the local government will further improve the implementation of social welfare and development programs so that the needs of the marginalized sector will be effectively and efficiently addressed to help them improve their standing in the society.
