BAGUIO CITY- ST. PETER defy the Admirals in their Sunday, July 26, 2015 clash in the YMCA Cup for bracket “A” here, that led to a see-saw battle in the squared circle following a shoot fest that saw both ball clubs ending the first canto of play with a tie at 24-24.
The younger Admirals using their speed as a key factor over age, subdued St. Peter offensive plays’ in the second canto to lead by six points 46-40. Meanwhile, the more experienced St. Peter ball club saw an opportunity as Boy Jose, Emilio Vergara, and Tony Baoanan found their marks on the board prompting St. Peter to put up a stiffer defense over the Admirals to take back the front seat at the end of the third canto in a 21-12 blast to lead by three points 61-58.
Getting back their momentum, the Admirals stepped on the gas to be back on the game to lead in the dying minute of the fourth canto 75-73, seemingly a sure win for the Admirals, left Robert Manzanares with a three pointer above the arc to take the lead back for St. Peter 76-75, following a turn over that gave Arnel Chancoco to add St. Peters’ lead and to end the game 78-75 in the final buzzer.
On the other hand, BWD-A sweeps a win over the Life Savers 89-71 to what was an important win for the ball club to vie for a slot in the semi final round for bracket “M”. The BWD-A strive to be on the front seat 20-17 on the first canto, and a 29-13 blast on the second leaving the life savers behind by 19 points in the second canto of play with a 23-20 blast on the third canto, to give them easy baskets on the fourth to end the buzzer at 89-71 for a clean sweep.
