LUNA, Apayao – More than 2,000 student-athletes, coaches, and officials representing seven (7) state universities and colleges (SUCs) are gearing up for the 2024 Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) from April 29 to May 3, 2024, in Apayao.
This year’s CARASUC Athletic Meet carries the theme “Bidlisiw: Paghilom, Pagbangon at Pagsulong.” It will showcase 24 sports events, including combat sports, basketball, volleyball, football, track and field, and sepak takraw. Alongside the sports competitions, cultural and arts festivities will feature traditional dances, music, and arts. The towns of Luna, Pudtol, and Santa Marcela will serve as the venues for these exciting events.
The annual CARASUC Athletic Meet is eagerly anticipated as it brings together student-athletes from various universities across the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), fostering camaraderie and promoting sportsmanship among the SUCs. Apayao State College (ASC) will compete against six other member-SUCs from the region.
In CAR, there are seven SUCs : Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, University of the Philippines-Baguio, Benguet State University, Ifugao State University, Kalinga State University, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, and Apayao State College.
To ensure a successful and safe event, a coordination meeting led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Edmar D. Pascua was held at the Provincial Capitol Conference Hall on April 22. ASC President John N. Cabansag, along with Sports Director Constancio L. Maslang, Jr., presented updates to the CARASUC working committee regarding the hosting preparations for CARASUC 2024. The meeting also addressed various concerns and outlined proactive measures to ensure the well-being of participants and spectators.
The provincial government, in collaboration with national line agencies and local government units, has made preparations for the arrival of delegates over the weekend, setting the stage for a successful CARASUC 2024. By Krizza Joy Castillo
