The city government will be conducting at least three consultations with the concerned sectors to solicit their inputs on the proposed implementation of the P20 million Session Road sidewalk improvement project.
City Engineer Edgar Victorio Olpindo stated that the schedule of the upcoming consultations will be announced to ensure that the concerned sectors can participate in the discussions on how to proceed with the implementation of the project to achieve the overall goal of the city government in improving the current state of the sidewalk along the city’s main thoroughfare.
He claimed that the initial public consultation on the project that was conducted last May 4, 2022 was successful but the city government needs to continue engaging the concerned sectors until such time a concrete direction is achieved on how to proceed with the implementation of the said project.
The city engineer stipulated that assigned technical personnel are now working on the revision of the project design to incorporate the valid suggestions and recommendations of the affected sectors before these will be again presented to them for further inputs.
Earlier, the local government suspended the issuance of the notice to proceed for the P20 million Session Road sidewalk improvement project to give way for the conduct of the public consultations on the proposed design of the project and elicit suggestions and recommendations of various sectors wanting to be heard on how to proceed with its implementation.
Olpindo urged concerned sectors to actively participate in the conduct of future consultations on the project because their suggestions and recommendations are vital in further fine tuning the design of the project before its implementation probably close to the end of the third quarter or by the fourth quarter of this year.
The Session Road sidewalk improvement project will first be implemented on the right side of the road going up as the city government is still sourcing out the required funds to for the left side of the road possibly by next year when there will be available funds that will be included in next year’s annual budget.
