BONTOC, Mountain Province – Provincial Tourism Office (PTourO) Officer-in-Charge Angel B. Baybay encouraged owners of registered accommodation facility in Mountain Province (MP) to have their business establishment be accredited by the Department of Tourism.
Baybay announced during the Monday program at the Provincial Plaza on June 10, 2024 that of the 207 registered accommodation facilities in MP, 138 are already accredited by the DOT as of the date of announcement while the remaining 69 are not yet accredited. Therefore, Baybay called for the unity of the Provincial Government employees to be one with the PTourO in disseminating the information to any accommodation facility owners they know whose establishment is not yet accredited.
“So if you own or know of one who owns an accommodation facility, you encourage them to apply for accreditation,” he said.
According to Baybay, DOT-accredited facilities are entitled to be included in the promotional campaigns of the DOT. In addition, owners and personnel of accredited accommodation facilities have a great chance to be invited to various DOT-initiated trainings.
Meanwhile, Baybay clarified that being accredited by DOT does not mean that the facility that is exempted from local ordinances on curfews.
“We would want to emphasize that being accredited will not exempt a facility from local ordinances like the curfew ordinance. They could provide goods and services on a 24-hour basis but only to their checked-in clients. They could not entertain outside customers if it is beyond the curfew hour,” Baybay informed. By HENT
