City officials recently congratulated and commended the Baguio City Jail Male Dorm for bagging numerous unit and individual awards during the regional Gawad Penolohiya Award for the first quarter of this year.
Under Resolution No. 239, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the achievements of the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory reflect positively on the local government and the city as a whole and inspire other correctional facilities nationwide to strive for excellence.
At present, the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory is overseen by some 75 personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) led by Warden Jail Superintendent April Rose Ayangwa.
During the recently concluded regional Gawad Sa Penolohiya Ward for the first quarter of this year, the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory was recognized for its outstanding performance, securing numerous unit and individual awards such as City Jail of the Quarter; Best WD Unit (Type B Jail); Best S.T.A.R. Team (Type B Jail); Best Escorting Unit (Type B Jail) and Best MSEC unit (Type B Jail).
For the individual awards, Best City Jail Warden – Jail Superintendent April Rose Ayangwa; Best Welfare and Development Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Senior Inspector Erlinda A. Las-igan; Best Livelihood Program Officer (Type B Jail) – Senior Jail Officer 1 Monette W. Julian; Best Paralegal Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 3 Jenny Claire M. Chinalpan; Best Cultural and Sports Program Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer I Kurt L. Alalag; Best ALS Implementer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 1 Junel M. Kadatar; Best CRS Relations Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer Charlene Kate V. Liis; Best Intelligence Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 1Bretowen T. Polon; Best Skills Enhancement Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 2 Manalisa P. Odien; Best Escorting Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 2 Alexander Sawad, Jr.; Best Jail Nurse (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 2 Jasmin Lumbanay D. Domacyon; Best Records Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 1 Hian P. Cherweg; Best TC Implementer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 1 Rodel W. Bucatan; Best Human Rights Action Officer (Type B Jail) – Jail Officer 1 John S. Guzman and Best Gatekeeper (type B Jail) – Jail Officer Zedric K. Gerardo.
The council pointed out that the aforesaid awards reflect the tireless efforts and unwavering professionalism of the personnel of the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory in upholding the principles of justice, rehabilitation and community safety.
Further, the individual and unit awards attained by the male dormitory serve as a testament to the exceptional leadership, teamwork, and innovation exhibited by its staff members.
The council claimed that the dedication and hard work of the jail personnel will greatly contribute to the rehabilitation and re-integration of the persons deprived of liberty into society, fostering positive change and reducing recidivism rates.
