BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) expressed its gratitude to the residents of the city for their utmost cooperation in the strict implementation of the 24-hour curfew in the city as part of the guidelines governing the implementation of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine.
BCPO City Director Police Col. Allen Rae F. Co disclosed that from April 2-7, 2020, there were no curfew violators apprehended or no one defied lawful orders handed down as part of the rules and regulations governing the prevailing quarantine period.
“We are grateful to our residents for showing their cooperation and support to the prevailing curfew in our city because we cannot achieve such accomplishment without the participation of the public,” Co stressed.
With the extension of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine, the police official disclosed that the city police force will remain consistent and will become stricter in the implementation of the guidelines for people to stay at home and for the observance of proper social distancing.
The BCPO chief pointed out that to avoid being asked by the police personnel for documents allowing them to be outside their residences, those who do not have something important to do outside should stay home and have bonding with their family members instead of exposing themselves to the possibility of contracting the deadly virus and spread the same in their communities.
According to him, police personnel managing the checkpoints and conducting the regular foot and mobile patrols have been instructed to exercise maximum tolerance in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities to avoid any untoward incidence that will compromise the safety of the people.
He reminded the assigned person per household to always bring with them their valid home quarantine passes to allow them to pass through the checkpoints because local officials and police personnel want people to stay at home instead of loitering in the city doing nothing.
Co stipulated the people should understand the government is doing everything to ensure nobody contracts the virus and eventually spread the same because the more people who will be infected with the Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 will result to more problems.
At present, BCPO is maximizing its police personnel to manage the checkpoints and conduct the foot and mobile patrols in the city during this period of extended enhanced community quarantine while others rest to prevent them from being exhausted as the quarantine still will paly out till the end of the month.
