LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P27 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated and destroyed while some six drug suspects were successively arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during the implementation of a week-long aggressive anti-drug operations in the different parts of the region from June 24-20, 2024.
Police authorities said that a total of 17 operations were conducted in Abra, Baguio City, Benguet, and Kalinga during the week. These operations resulted in the confiscation of 134,700 fully grown marijuana plants, 10.44 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 26.31 grams of shabu, with a combined estimated value of P27,120,172.44.
The most significant operation took place in Kalinga, where the Lumin-awa cops conducted five marijuana eradication operations and executed one warrant of arrest that resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs valued at P26,200,000.00 and the arrest of one High-Value Individual.
Police Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo, Jr., regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, commended the dedication of PRO-CAR operatives in combating the illegal drug trade, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the community and eliminating drug distribution in the region.
