TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Six of the 18 candidates of the Miss Tabuk 2023 bagged the eight special awards in the pageant’s preliminary competition on June 18, 2023 at the M Hotel Tabuk.
Most awarded were Lucog’s Audrey Cana C. Magallis and Balong’s Claudine L. Carag who each took home two special awards.
Magallis clinched the Miss Racer X and Face of Empire awards while Carag won the Miss Milestone and Best in Ethnic Gown awards.
Other awards and their recipients are as follows: Miss Congeniality: Dagupan West’s Jodeleen Rhyne K. Carbonel; Miss Body Fitness: Dilag’s Joy Grace A. Famillaran; Miss Close-Up Smile: Naneng’s Larie Mae B. Ganaban and Best in Headshot Challenge: Bagumbayan’s Ervelyn D. Banya-ao
All of said awards were given out by the pageant’s sponsors with the exception of the Best in Ethnic Gown and the Best in Headshot Challenge. The former was based on the judges’ scores for the best-designed dress during the Ethnic Gown Fashion Show. The winning ethnic gown worn by Carag was designed by Verlin Pangsiw.
On the other hand, the Best in Headshot Challenge was the pageant’s first online competition and was primarily based on social media votes.
All eight special awards have no bearing on the final scores of the candidates on the coronation night.
Broadcasted live by SDN Broadcasting Network, the preliminary competition started with the Cordillera Traditional Attire where the candidates sashayed down the runway in traditional attire representing the various ethnic groups of the Cordillera.
It was followed by the Talent Competition and the Ethnic Gown Fashion Show, a special event that aimed to give a platform for local fashion designers to showcase their creations.
The last competition was the Casual Interview which saw the candidates answer questions from the judges in public for the first time.
The pageant’s coronation night will be held on June 22, 2023 at the Tabuk People’s gymnasium. The show will start at 6:00 PM.
