TADIAN, Mountain Province – The municipal government secure from the Cordillera office of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) some PhP10 million for the construction of a fire station building within the municipal compound.
Mayor Constito Masweng said that the BFP-CAR already awarded the project and that the construction of the fire station building had already commenced that will make the municipality the first town in the province to be a recipient of such kind of fire station.
He expressed his gratitude to the BFP-CAR under the leadership of Fire Senior Superintendent Robert Pacis for selecting Tadian as a recipient of the PhP10 million fire station building that will significantly contribute in enhancing the firefighting capability of the Tadian fire station.
The lot where the town’s fire station will be constructed will be the counterpart of the municipal government facilitating the realization of the project.
The municipal government procured a fire truck during Mayor Masweng’s previous term while the BFP-CAR provided another fire truck for the municipality to help bolster the Tadian fire station’ firefighting capability during the occurrence of fire incidents.
Masweng claimed that the PhP10 million fire station building is suitable to the current terrain following the decision of BFP to provide various types of designs of the agency’s fire stations that will suit the different terrains in certain areas around the country.
According to him, the persistence of municipal officials in following up the earlier request of the municipal government for a new fire station with the BFP-CAR paid off with the issuance of the notice of award for the said project.
He assured the agency that the municipal government will provide the appropriate support to the Tadian fire station, especially when the new fire station building will be completed, so that the firefighting capability of the existing personnel will be enhanced.
The mayor stated that the municipal government will have to closely work with the concerned government agencies to ensure that Tadian will not be left behind in the implementation of their respective programs, projects and activities geared towards aggressively promoting and advancing the welfare of the people in the rural communities.
Masweng stipulated that the municipal government will request the BFP-CAR for additional firefighters to staff the new fire station building once the structure will be completed to ensure there will be more firefighters available to respond during emergency situations.
Aside from the PhP10 million design for fire stations in mountainous areas, the BFP also produced designs worth PhP4 million that are suitable to flat lands and PhP7 million for areas that are between flatlands and mountainous terrains. By Dexter A. See
