TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Different tribes hailing in this city presented rituals and practices of ‘womb to tomb’ during the cultural-ritual presentation held June 26 at the People’s Gymnasium.
Participating tribes are the Ilokanos, Muslim, Bago, Tobog, Dallac, Guilayon, Ga’dang, Biga, Nanong and Mountain Province.
For the event, the Ilokanos made an artistic interpretation of ‘harana’, the Muslims did the ‘pangakap, the Malbongs presented the ‘palanos de asawa’ or ‘banat’, ‘duayya’ for the Bago tribe, ‘tu-od’ or ‘boloy-domog’ for the Tobog, while the Mountain Province was in charge of the ‘obaya’, the Biga for the ‘umapo’, the Dallac for the ‘inom di bodong’, the Ga’dang for the ‘dawak’ and ended by the portrayal of the ‘posipos’ by the members of the Guilayon tribe .
The presentations from these tribes reflect courtship and marriage, to starting a family and raising children, and eventually in dealing with illness, recovery and death. These rituals also form a storyline that speak about the humble beginnings towards journey to the City of Life, according to City Barangay Affairs and Coordinating Officer Reamcy Mar Adong.
The Matagoan Bodong Consultative Council and the City Barangay Affairs Coordinating Office, being the organizers of the event, gave away cash incentives to the participating tribes for their meaningful performance. By Darwin S. Serion
