BAGUIO CITY June 01 – The number of confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the city continues to increase following the positive test results of two individuals who were earlier subjected to swab tests with the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), the only accredited sub-national testing laboratory in Northern Luzon to date.
Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong described the two latest COVID patients as a 28-year old female from Barangay City Camp Central and a 25-year old male from Barangay Poliwes-Apugan.
He claimed that the 28-year old female had history of travel to San Fernando City, La Union recently and was suspected to have the deadly virus because of the suspicious results of her chest x-ray that prompted health authorities to subject her to the mandatory swab test.
On the other hand, the 25-year old male who does not have any history of travel outside the city had a drinking spree with neighbors on May 29, 2020 and allegedly punched his father who was trying to pacify the reported commutation being created in the neighborhood.
His neighbors were forced to seek the assistance of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and while on board the mobile patrol of the local police force, he allegedly assaulted the arresting law enforcers that prompted them to file the necessary charges against him.
He was then ordered detained at the Baguio City Jail but jail authorities who were doubtful about his condition requested that he will be subjected to the required swab test that eventually turned out to be positive.
The local chief executive ordered the conduct of aggressive contact tracing of the close contacts of the latest cases, the disinfection of the residents of the patients and appropriate patient management.
