KIANGAN, Ifugao – A total of 23 former rebels received skills free training from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) here in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s advocacy in reintegrating rebel returnees, drug surrenderers, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), and other special clients back to the socio-economic mainstream by providing access to quality technical-vocational education and training.
“The Agency is one with the President’s call and the national government efforts for the reintegration of former rebels to the society,” said TESDA-Ifugao Provincial Director John Adawey.
He said that the former rebels were trained in oyster mushroom production at Ifugao Reflection Camp in Kiangan last November 13- 15, 2019.
“Most of them are from the municipality of Tinoc, and the rest are from Asipulo, Hungduan, Aguinaldo, and Nueva Vizcaya,” he explained.
PD Adawey lauded the rebel returnees for returning to the mainstream society and for considering TVET as their choice.
He noted that the skills training from TESDA will serve as their guide once they receive their benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integrated Program (E-CLIP) of the government.
