BAUKO, Mountain Province – The municipal government will be conducting the health profiling of its over 34,000 constituents to ascertain the health condition of the residents in the town’s 22 barangays and the appropriate interventions for those who have health problems.
Mayor Abraham B. Akilit said that the local government will heavily invest on health programs and projects to ensure the residents’ good health to ensure they remain productive and continue improving the municipality’s status in the coming years.
Initially, the municipal government acquired a mobile laboratory that is now assisting the barangay health workers in profiling the health of residents so that bonafide residents will have individual data sheets containing details of their health condition aside from the results of their blood, sugar and uric acid tests that serve as the basis in monitoring their health.
“We hope to complete our health profiling project by the end of the year so that the municipal government can be guided on what preventive medicines to purchase for distribution to those who need them,” Mayor Akilit stressed.
The municipal chief executive claimed the local government is making the needed representation with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for the acquisition of two additional mobile laboratories to help fastrack the health profiling project.
According to him, the municipal government earmarked P500,000 of the P1 million allotted for health services under its current annual budget to purchase the needed strips and reagents to be used in the health prolife of the residents in the different barangays.
Mayor Akilit explained that after documenting the health condition of the residents, doctors and barangay health workers will provide the relevant advise to people found to have health issues so can look after their diet and daily routine so as not to aggravate their own condition, while those with good health condition will also be advised to continue practicing healthy lifestyle.
He added that residents found to have health issues will be provided with preventive medicines to be purchased by the municipal government and closely monitored by the different barangay heath workers so as not to aggravate their health.
The 3-term municipal mayor underscored that health is the foundation of everything in life thus the local government is heavily investing its available resources to establish the database of the health condition of the people living in the town’s 22 barangays as basis for the adoption of appropriate strategies by the municipal health office to address health problems in the municipality while empowering people with good health condition to sustain the practice of healthy lifestyle and convince others to do so.
