BAUKO, Mountain Province – The Citizens Crime Watch (CCW) Mountain Province chapter commended Dr. Mathew Glenn Baggao, chief of the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital, for being a dedicated and responsible public servant attending to the medical needs of indigent patients from the remote communities of the Cordillera.
In his letter to Health Secretary Paulyn Rosell-Ubial, Salvador Liked, CCW Mountain Province chapter chairman, cited various accomplishments of the hospital during Dr. Baggao’s stint in the regional hospital through his progressive leadership over the past several years.
Among his notable accomplishments and achievements are the establishment of the dialysis center in the regional hospital with 10 units, construction of oxygen generating plants, construction of waste autoclave, on-going deep well construction, completion of motorpool, repair of power house, construction of administrative offices, construction of laundry area and construction of access road to the oxygen generating plant.
He added other major on-going projects of Dr. Baggao include the construction of a 4-storey building for additional private and ward rooms that will break ground on March 10, 2017, purchase of different laboratory equipment, purchase of modern mobile x-ray machine, and the hiring of new employees, among others.
Liked revealed Dr. Baggao was responsible for the establishment of the Cordillera Administrative Region rehabilitation center to be constructed in the compound of the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital.
He said due to Dr. Bagggao’s dedication to the service and representation with concerned agencies, the regional hospital’s bed capacity tremendously increased expanding from 100 beds to 200 beds.
Liked pointed out Dr. Baggao’s firm decision-making resulted in the realization of significant improvements in the regional hospital’s service allowing it to service patients with more complicated illnesses.
The doctor also refused to buckle down to the influence-peddling being done by some politicians to appoint their recommended personnel and instead based his decisions on the merits of the applicants and not the endorsements of politicians.
According to him, Dr. Baggao wisely used his wide latitude of discretion in making appointments so that applicants from other places in the region could be accommodated considering that they are qualified for the available positions defying the demands of a Cordillera lawmaker that only his provincemnates should be employed in the hospital even if they are not allegedly qualified for the said positions.
Liked rallied stakeholders to support the leadership of Dr. Baggao in the regional hospital because the delivery of basic services to the people such as health care should not be compromised by the influence of politicians but should be based on the needs of patients who seek medical attention from the hospital because of the capability of health care providers therein.
