BAGUIO CITY – St. Andrews netted a win over ROC-A, 101-97 on last November 13’s game to earned the the top one position in bracket “Y” and dropping ROC-A to the number two position. On the other hand, The Dope Squad wrested the number three position with the BENECO-Voltz settling for the number four position to complete the semifinal cast of the YMCA Cup.
Last Mondays’ matchup was their second consecutive clash in the elimination round with St. Andrews winning the first match. A second time around did not end without a good fight and a seesaw battle. ROC-A ignited a 25-15 run in the first canto while dominating the boards. It was 15-29 score after the first quarter buzzer.
Returning the favor, St. Andrews went on a 31-18 run on the second canto to grab the lead, 46-43, at the half.
ROC-A again retook the lead in the third canto. They posted a 35-24 run to end the quarter with an eight point lead, 78-70.
Ball skirmish, defense and accomplished offense in the fourth quarter of play placed the game in a see-saw battle where both ball clubs push harder on offensive plays until the stretch. Tied at 97-all, St. Andrews got loose ball recoveries and made two field goals in the dying seconds to win the game 101-97.
On the other hand, Monday Club secured the top position in Bracket “M” while the Reserves got the second post. Dos Republic came in third and Falcons rested on the fourth slot. The Stingers bagged the number one position in Bracket “C” while Inatech landed second. My Desk rested on third slot and Kuya Ponz settled for the fourth position. BGH-EMPC in number one position while COMELEC landed in the number two position in bracket Bracket “A”. Knockout games however, shall still be scheduled to break ties for the third and fourth positions.
