The Cordillera Basic Sectors Transport Cooperative (CBSTC) made its mission to recreate the Cordillera Administrative Region’s (CAR) Transportation System. This is through the Public Utility Vehicles Modernization Program (PUVMP) of the government.
According to Rex A. Bayangan (Secretary General of CBSTC) Transportation System of CAR has been an issue. A lot of visitors had different complaints every now and then due to the poor transportation system that Cordillera have. Indeed it is not easy to plan and create a transportation system that will help the region and the community.
Team CBSTC volunteers consisting its officials conducted research and surveys for the past 2 years just to give a solution to the biggest problem of the community of CAR.
Bayangan said that CBSTC had spearheaded the first Regional Summit in Baguio City last April 24, 2018 in coordination with the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) and Land Transportation Office (LTO) CAR discussed the PUVMP of the government and the Omnibus Franchising Guideline. They made it clear that issuances of franchises are through cooperatives and corporation only.
Team CBSTC from there on had been supporting OTC and LTO CAR in Provincial Summits in Mountain Province, Ifugao, Kalinga, Benguet, Apayao and Abra.
In traveling Team CBSTC experienced all types of transportation in CAR. The team experienced the discomforts and unsafe trip of passengers and also the hidden beauty of Cordillera and its people that motivated Team CBSTC to go for PUVMP of the government.
CBSTC believes in change for the betterment of the people thru the immediate implementation of the PUV Modernization Program, One among the flagship programs of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) under the leadership of Secretary Arthur P. Tugade. CBSTC will only release modernized vehicles that will make sure the safety of the passengers and also prevent air pollution that will be an advantage for the environment.
CBSTC even made a special training for its drivers with the help of TESDA. This is to make sure that the drivers will be disciplined and well informed.
CBSTC will stop the tears of all the Cordilleran that has been a victim of pain that our current transportation system have. CBSTC will be the help to the community in showing everyone the true essence of living in the land of the IGOROT’s.
BASTA CBSTC SAFETY!
