BAGUIO CITY – On 22 September 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed the Standard Q Covid -19 Antigen test as eligible for procurement. This Antigen Test Kit by SD Biosensor is included under WHO’s Emergency Use Listing (EUL). The EUL is a procedure for assessing and listing diagnostic devices, among others, for use during public health emergencies of international concern (PHEIC).
SD Biosensor, the manufacturer of the Standard Q Ag test kits, claims that antigen is economical and will speed up testing thus aid in preventing the disease from spreading. In the antigen testing process, fluids are taken from the nose using a swab and a response is ready within 15 to 30 minutes. Baguio has announced that they are pilot testing the use of antigen test kits for the opening of the city to tourists from the Cordillera region. The Department of Health (DOH) is expected to release guidelines for the antigen use upon completion of the pilot testing. Trulaboratories Corporation and its authorized dealers nationwide (including Sterilab Company) distribute the Standard Q Antigen Kits in the Philippines.
