LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap urged residents from the different parts of the province to avail of the ongoing roll out of the government’s mass vaccination program for them to be provided with added protection that will prevent them from contracting severe infection of the dreaded Corona virus Disease (COVID) 2019 that might compromise their health condition in the future.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House committee on appropriations, disclosed that since the vaccines were made available to the public last year, he was already inoculated with Sinovac instead of having to wait for the preferred Western brands since what matters is the added protection that the available vaccine will provide the vaccinated persons.
He pointed out that by being vaccinated with the brand that is not preferred by the people, he wanted to help convince residents that the most effective vaccine against the deadly virus is the one that is readily available to be inoculated for them to gain additional protection to prevent them from contracting the severe infection of the virus.
The lawmaker claimed that if Sinovac is not doing good as a vaccine, then something wrong could have happened to him but for more than 6 months since he was inoculated, he did not encounter any problem caused by the vaccine to his health as he is still in in good condition.
At present, more than 30 percent of the 338,000 qualified adult population of the province had already been fully vaccinated while more than 50 percent of the same already received their first dose of the available vaccines.
Congressman Yap underscored that Benguet has more than enough vaccines that is why people must take advantage of the situation for them to be inoculated to help in achieving the desired population protection and eventual herd immunity that will contribute in efforts for the gradual and safe revival of the local economy.
According to him, residents should already avail of the available vaccines as there is sufficient supply of vaccines being distributed around the country so that they will be able to enjoy the benefits being granted by the government and the private sectors to vaccinated individuals for them to be able to help in speeding up the ongoing gradual and safe revival of the local economy that will bring back the vibrancy of the established sources of livelihood of the people to generate the jobs for the heavily i8mpacted sectors.
Earlier, Yap made representations with the National Vaccine Task Force to provide additional vaccines for Benguet because of the increasing number of people wanting to be inoculated for them to be spared from contracting severe infection of the virus that might compromise the health condition of the people.
He expressed hope that many residents from the different municipalities will avail of the vaccines that will be provided by the government during the upcoming 3-day National Vaccination Day on November 29 to December 1, 2021 to contribute in the ongoing efforts of concerned government agencies to inoculate more people to achieve the target of 54 million Filipinos that must be vaccinated by the end of the year end route to the desired 70 percent herd immunity by the first quarter of next year.
