TABUK CITY, Kalinga – City Mayor Darwin Estrañero has once again shown exemplary performance by being awarded at the Gawad Parangal of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), held at the Manila Hotel, for his remarkable work in providing assistance to all sectors in need, particularly the city’s local cooperatives.
The award recognizes Estrañero’s support for local cooperatives through the City Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) by fostering effective partnerships and giving financial assistance for cooperative development programs and projects.
The CDA Gawad Parangal is an awards and recognition program for cooperatives, local government units, local chief executives, partner organizations, and cooperative leaders who have demonstrated meritorious performance, best practices, and good governance in providing responsible services to their communities.
On another note, the CDA formally ended the Cooperative Month Celebration at the latter part of the Gawad Parangal, but emphasized that it will continue to be a celebration for all cooperatives in the Philippines.
Estrañero expressed his gratitude to the CDA for recognizing the efforts of the local government to support the growth and development of various types of cooperatives in the city, citing that cooperativism plays a key role in helping spur economic activities and provide sustainable sources of livelihood to the people.
“We will continue to extend whatever appropriate assistance to the cooperative sector because we believe that cooperativism is one of the major drivers of our economy, especially in our agriculture-based economy,” Estran֮ero stressed. By Ruth Cupang
